Artist:
Lory Lockwood
It’s no
surprise to find Lory Lockwood’s art exhibited in some
of America’s most prestigious galleries, but it’s Lory’s
depiction of machines that have a new crowd taking
notice. This Photo Realism (meaning just as it sounds)
painter uses reflection as her guide - and with amazing
results. Perhaps it’s the seductive glow of chrome and
steel that lure motorcycle and car enthusiast alike; no
matter, Lory has embraced her accidental market by
touring events like the infamous “Bike Week,” which
establishes new fans at every stop. And as strange fate
would have it, mother nature (in a profound manner) must
be Lory’s fan, too. She spared Lockwood’s beloved life’s
artwork from the wrath of September’s Hurricane Katrina.
The New Orleans studio
received
damage on the first floor - Lory’s work occupies the
second…
With her family and house intact, Lory is grateful, but
says now she experiences life in an “alternate
universe.” Transplanted to Houston, Texas, Lory copes
with her new reality by diving back into her work,
painting at studio space provided by the art community.
After a conversation with Lory, we believe her craving
for new projects will carry her through her tough ride.
And although we had a different direction mapped for
Lory‘s article that brewed a few months ago, we knew it
was more important to share
her immediate reality - out of concern and respect.
We know that as you view some of our favorite pieces
we’ve selected from her
collection,
you will become a fan of Lory’s, too.
