 Cara Mae McGuire
Cara Mae has a Liberal Arts degree in Sociology and has worked in the field of library science in both the public system and school sector. Motorcycling has always been a big part of her life in some way, shape or form, ever since she was a wee gal riding around with her biker Dad on his Yamaha RD350 motorcycle through the back alleys of southern Ohio. Nowadays, when she is not cruising with her husband on his BMW R1150R, she can be found off-road on Texas trails and tracks riding the dirt on her Honda XR100R -dotingly called “The D”. |

Jessica joined Discover Today's Motorcycling in 2006 with a focus on expanding outreach to women and Gen Y, keeping motorcycling fashionable, and promoting motorcycling as viable transportation. In addition to doing media outreach and celebrity development, hosting special women's events, and giving presentations to manufacturers and dealers, Jessica created RockMoto, a website devoted to music and motorcycling that aims to get more young people on two wheels. Jessica has been an MSF RiderCoach since 2007 and teaches at the Discovery Rider Training Center and Westside Motorcycle Academy. Before joining DTM, Jessica served as editor of RoadBike and assistant editor at American Iron Magazine.  Val Newman
After a mis-spent teenage period on the back of anything with two wheels, Val abandoned scooters/bikes for fast cars. It wasn't until 2000 when she went out for the day riding pillion on a friend's Triumph Sprint, and the rest, as they say, is history. Val passed her motorcycle test and in 2001 bought a Suzuki GSXF 750 in purple and black and in 2005 traded if for her present ride, a Vstrom DL650. When Val's not attending numerous WIMA functions or traveling around Europe, she takes two weeks out of her summer to round up cattle in Texas, another one of her many passions. This newly-wed of one year spends the rest of her time working as the Head of School in the Arts, Sports, and Business departments at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe, North Lincolinshire. |

 Petra Baer, aka: VTwin Mama
Petra is a retired freelance writer who purchased her first motorcycle in 1979. In August 2000 she penned her first advice column for a start-up motorcycle site, but when the site failed to achieve its goals, research led her to believe that the idea of a woman-specific advice column had merit. Thus began a frenzied learning curve that led to the creation and subsequent launch of the VTwin Mama site on January 29, 2001. Started as an advice column, VTwin Mama quickly began adding resources and information and now offers refuge to over 300 pages, including a comprehensive women's ride map and message board. Petra currently rides a 2001 BMW R1200C Phoenix, which she nickednamed "Bumblebee." Whether riding by herself, or on group rides with her husband and friends, the passion and empowerment of solo riding never ceases to amaze and delight her.

 Taryn Kail
Taryn is a web design and technology professional and has a BA in Interactive Media Design. She has been riding since 1995, and has been an enthusiast rally goer. She is a former member of the Bottle Rocket Scooter Club in Denver, The Mountain Sooter Racing Association and co-founded the Mods n' Knockers, an all-female scooter club based in Denver. She currently lives in San Antonio and is a member of the Ne'er Do Wells scooter club and a is part of the planning committee for the Amerivespa 2010 Rally. Her past scooter collection included a 1980 P200 customize to be an "R2D2" themed bike...R2D200, and a 1958 Vespa 125. Today, she still rides her first bike, a 1971 Vespa Rally 180 and a 2003 Genuine Stella (150), lovingly called "The Bacon Bike."
 Brittanie SheyBrittanie is a freelance writer, runner, crafter, and two-wheel enthusiast. She grew up in Oklahoma and has been all over the world, but Houston is where her heart is. She quit her full-time job writing for newspapers to move to South Korea for two years, where she studied taekwondo and ate a lot of delicious food. She wishes riding gear was less about the pink and more about the practicality, but she still buys it anyway. When she's not writing (and riding) for Helmet Hair magazine.com, she's blogging about music and travel for the Houston Press.
